Most waveguide bend manufacturers ask for a part number. We’d rather see your drawing. Tell us the frequency range, waveguide size, what plane the bend sits in, the angle you need, and which flanges bolt to your run. We’ll machine, bend, braze and test it right here in our own shop — we’ve been doing it since 2001.

Standard 90° with 30°, 45° and 60° on order. 6061 aluminum is the standard body; copper and brass where electrical performance matters.

Several direction changes in one constant-cross-section assembly — 1.72 to 110 GHz in WR-10 to WR-430, VSWR as low as 1.06:1.

A drawing, STEP file or sketch is enough to start. The quote lists the exact configuration, material, finish and RF targets — plus the test data you get with delivery.

What happens after you send us your specs

We check everything before we make anything. It saves drawing revisions and surprises at install.

Fix the requirements

Frequency range, waveguide size, bend plane and angle, flange, material, finish, quantity and documents. Confirmed in writing before anything else.

RF and mechanical check

Bend plane, angle, cross-section through the bend, flange clocking, leg lengths and the total envelope — reviewed together, not as separate pieces.

03

Drawing and acceptance criteria

We confirm the drawing or STEP file, VSWR target, insertion loss limit, surface finish and which checks you want reported before shipment.

04

Build, braze, inspect, test

Machining, bending and brazing happen in-house. We run the agreed dimensional and RF checks and ship the test data with the parts.

Materials, flanges and finish

The details that decide whether a bend fits

Most problems with bends show up at the flanges and in the envelope. Tell us these up front and the first drawing is usually right.

  • Bend plane, angle and leg lengths — and the total A*B envelope
  • Flange type, bolt pattern and clocking on both ends
  • 6061 aluminum as standard; copper or brass where loss matters
  • Chromate or iridite inside; grey or black anticorrosion paint outside
  • Silver or gold plating on request to reduce microwave losses

Custom Bend FAQ

Which bend angles can you make?
90° is standard. Published options include 45° and 60°, and 30° is available on order for miter bends. For anything else, send the drawing — the angle is confirmed at quote.
Do you make both E-plane and H-plane bends?
Yes. Ordering uses WEB for E-plane and WHB for H-plane on double-ridged models; rectangular miter and multi-bend lines also come in both planes. Custom E-bend/H-bend combinations are quoted per drawing.
What frequency range do your bends cover?
Published miter models run 0.32 to 40 GHz — 48 models from WR2300 to WR28. Double-ridged bends cover 0.84 to 40 GHz (WRD84 to WRD180). Multi-bend and hybrid flex-rigid assemblies reach 110 GHz.
What VSWR can we expect?
Published miter models list 1.1:1 to 1.15:1 across the table, with typical values better than 1.05 and as low as 1.03:1 over a 5% bandwidth. Double-ridged models list a maximum of 1.25:1. Multi-bend assemblies publish VSWR as low as 1.06:1.
Which flanges and materials are available?
UDR and PDR flanges on miter models; cover (P) and grooved (M) on double-ridged. Bodies are aluminum, brass or copper; chromate or iridite inside, anticorrosion paint outside, with silver or gold plating on request.
What should our RFQ include?
Operating frequency range, WR or WRD size, bend plane and angle, A*B dimensions and leg lengths, flange type, material and finish, quantity — and a drawing or sketch if you have one.
